Bollywood’s hot topic at the moment is the biopic of the current president and former captain of Indian cricket Sourav Ganguly and who will play his role?
There has been talking of a biopic of Sourav Ganguly for several years, but he never agreed. From Srijit Mukherjee from Kolkata Industry to Bollywood’s “Fox Star Studio, Dharma Production & Balaji Motion Pictures”, Sourav Ganguly refused to make his biopic. However, this time another production house “Viacom-18” who has previously produced movies like “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Padmaavat, Drishym 2” and Aamir Khan’s “Laal Singh Chhada” and Hrithik-Deepika’s “Fighter” are coming under this banner, Sourav Ganguly allowed them to make his biopic. The budget for making this biopic is estimated at Rs 200-250 crore.
There are many important things in the life of Sourav Ganguly. A Bengali boy suddenly fell in love with Donna Ganguly after becoming the captain of the India cricket team and then ran away and got married. The trouble with head coach Chappell, giving Dhoni the captaincy, expelling him from the team, being the current president of Indian cricket after the sudden announcement of his retirement, and much more.
When Sourav Ganguly was once asked on his show “Dadagiri” that if his biopic is ever made, who would he like to see in that role – Sourav Ganguly then takes the name of Hrithik Roshan. But while confirming his biopic yesterday, when asked for his opinion, Sourav Ganguly said that he would like to see Ranbir Kapoor in his role on his own. However, despite being Ranbir’s first choice, the makers have Hrithik and Rajkumar Rao in mind besides him and it has been reported that Alia Bhatt will be the first choice for the role of Dona Ganguly.
(BDR: Alia Bhatt is currently Sourav Ganguly’s favorite heroine in Bollywood)
If the makers can make it better, Sourav Ganguly’s biopic is expected to be one of the best. To me, Ranbir looks a lot like Sourav Ganguly. I think it would be a little more glamorous to take Hrithik. Ranbir Kapoor has no other movie besides Love Ranjan Untiled and Sandeep Bhanga Reddy’s “Animal”. Doing this biopic will be good for him. There is no doubt about his performance, but playing the role of a cricketer is not an easy task. Although Ranbir is very closely involved in sports. He practices regular football and has his football club, Mumbai City FC, a branch of the current English Premier League champions Manchester City FC in India.
